📢 Biden's speech tonight at the Democratic Convention

I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to watching and listening to the Democratic Convention this week. The 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago is a powerful gathering focused on reigniting hope and driving progress for a future where everyone can thrive.

Several speakers are up tonight, and I want to hear their plans on issues that move our country forward: healthcare, housing, education, the economy, the environment, gun safety, immigration, and more.

One of the speakers up tonight is President Joe Biden, and I will have my ear bent toward his message on the Supreme Court.

President Biden has introduced a plan to increase transparency, accountability, and balance within the Supreme Court. One of the key proposals is the introduction of term limits for justices, which would prevent any single individual from exerting undue influence over the Court for decades. This reform is essential to ensure that the Court remains dynamic and responsive to the evolving needs of the American people, rather than becoming entrenched in outdated ideologies.

Additionally, the plan seeks to address the current imbalance in the Court's composition. The recent rapid appointments have skewed the Court's ideological leanings, creating concerns about its ability to adjudicate cases that impact millions of Americans fairly. Expanding the number of justices is a constitutional and historical remedy that has been used before (7 times in fact!) and could be necessary now to restore balance and public confidence in the Court.

The consequences of inaction are dire. If the Supreme Court continues on its current path, we risk undermining the very foundations of our democracy. There is no justice in a country that has corrupt judges.

Decisions that disproportionately favor specific political or economic interests can erode public trust and lead to widespread disillusionment with the judicial system. This is not a future we can afford. The Supreme Court must be preserved as a fair, impartial, and independent institution.
