Happy Juneteenth! Happy Emancipation Day! Happy Freedom Day!
Today is Juneteenth! Juneteenth Independence Day is a federal holiday signed into law by President Joe Biden on June 17, 2021, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Despite attempts by the MAGA cult to erase our history, we will not let that happen.
Today, we honor Juneteenth by advancing efforts toward an inclusive democracy that uplifts Black Americans' struggles, fights, and aspirations for true democratic equality.
This Juneteenth, we must call out MAGA extremists and anti-democratic politicians for their continued attacks on voting rights and their promotion of voter suppression laws that disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities across the country.
We must recommit to a nationwide movement that prioritizes voting rights protections, eliminates violence from our politics, and ensures Black Americans' equitable enjoyment of our democracy's benefits for generations to come.
Juneteenth is an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on our country's progress while acknowledging the work that still needs to be done toward a fully inclusive democracy.

The war for who we are and what we represent is happening now; we are the foot soldiers for justice. I have seen your people power, and I ask that you join me in taking action for our Constitution, the rule of law, and our rights and freedoms.
