Hi there! Yes I have been taking a mini-vacay! The next few months are going to be hopping so I wanted to make sure I recharged my batteries! I hope you too are enjoying the last bits of summer! I have a couple of announcements:
We are ramping up on social media, please follow us! Following People Power United on social media isn't just about staying informed—it's about joining a movement dedicated to preserving our democracy and advocating for the rights and dignity of all people. With over 200,000+ members we need to get louder on Social Media!
Also in addition to our daily news updates on the Supreme Court we are adding in a daily news update Stop Project 2025. Like the Supreme Court update, this will not be sent via email each day. You can access online or via the Substack app. I am sharing this first one so you can get an idea of what the daily brief will contain. This is in response to all of you asking for more resources and information on Project 2025 and what harms it would cause on our communities if enacted. Your feedback on this new resource is always appreciated.

In response to recent MAGA shenanigans to enact Project 2025, People Power United - a progressive grassroots group - issued the following statement:
“Project 2025 is a dangerous plan to move America from a democracy to a theocratic autocracy. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices,” said Laurie Woodward García of People Power United.
People Power United will continue to oppose such harm to our community and champion civil rights for all.

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, recently tied a Project 2025 plan to former President Donald Trump, arguing they both support policies that will raise mortgage costs for U.S. homebuyers.
"If (Trump's) Project 2025 agenda is put into effect, it will add around $1,200 a year to the typical American mortgage," Harris said at an Aug. 16 Raleigh, North Carolina, event at which she laid out her economic agenda.

In addition to calling for more abortion restrictions, Project 2025 — the conservative GOP playbook pitched to Trump — says that the destruction of embryos should become 'fully obsolete and ethically unthinkable.'

Project 2025, right-wing media, and Trump zero in on dismantling the Inflation Reduction Act
Project 2025 proposes gutting several federal offices that oversee efforts to address climate change and rolling back the bulk of the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Trump campaign appears to agree.
While the Trump campaign has sought to distance itself from Project 2025, the campaign’s rhetoric on the Inflation Reduction Act appears to align with the project, calling for eliminating electric vehicle subsidies, repealing the infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and suggesting that renewable energy does not work.
Fox News has joined Trump in taking aim at the Inflation Reduction Act, which has been a boon to job growth and clean energy development – especially in red states, as the IRA has created nearly 200,000 jobs across 160 Republican districts.
The Heritage Foundation, Project 2025’s lead organizer, recently promoted an apprenticeship program that opens up workers to increased exploitation, demonstrating a pattern of pretending to endorse a pro-worker agenda while advancing contradictory policies that benefit employers at the expense of labor.
In a new article, Heritage argues for a return to Trump-era apprenticeship policies that left new workers vulnerable by creating a two-tier workforce, and it disparages unions as detrimental to the working class.
Heritage also criticized President Joe Biden for ensuring that most federal infrastructure contracting projects are covered by collective bargaining agreements, a decision that was seen as a major win for organized labor.
