In response to recent Supreme Court shenanigans, People Power United - a progressive grassroots group - issued the following statement:
âThe Supreme Court has become unhinged. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices,â said Laurie Woodward GarcĂa of People Power United.
People Power United will continue to oppose such harm to our community and champion civil rights for all.

New York Times: One Senatorâs Vision for Supreme Court Accountability
Jamelle Bouie writes largely in support of Senator Wydenâs new court reform bill with the caveats that it is âan open question, constitutionally, whether Congress can bar the Supreme Court from deciding cases with a simple majorityâ and also that it is dead on arrival in Congress. However he praises the billâs potential to get Democrats thinking more boldly about reform.Â

New Republic: The Supreme Court Is Back. So Are Its Ethical Problems.
Michael Linhorst writes about a new case that the Supreme Court will soon consider hearing, which asks âWhen must a judge recuse under a law that requires recusals from âany proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questionedâ?â He argues that whether the Court takes the case may be a good indication of the justices views on the ethics of recusal.Â

John Fritze reports that âreligious interest groups are queuing up a series of high-profile appeals at the Supreme Court this fall that could further tear down the wall separating church and state.â He notes that these groups have turned to a historically friendly Supreme Court when it comes to this issue.Â
