In response to recent Supreme Court shenanigans, People Power United - a progressive grassroots group - issued the following statement:
“The Supreme Court has become unhinged. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices,” said Laurie Woodward García of People Power United.
People Power United will continue to oppose such harm to our community and champion civil rights for all.

Bloomberg Law: Nuclear Waste Storage Site in Texas Draws Supreme Court Review
Greg Stohr reports that on Friday the Supreme Court took up a case in which it will “consider reviving a plan to store as much as 40,000 tons of highly radioactive waste at a temporary west Texas site, accepting a case that could be a turning point after decades of wrangling over spent fuel from the nation’s commercial reactors.”
The Hill: Supreme Court to weigh in on Mexico’s lawsuit against US gun manufacturers
Zach Schonfeld reports that on Friday the Supreme Court took up “the gun industry’s appeal of a ruling allowing the Mexican government to proceed with its lawsuit against several prominent American firearm manufacturers.”
The Hill: Supreme Court to review vape review venue
Zach Schonfeld reports that the Supreme Court on Friday added another case about vapes to its docket, but with this case The Justice Department actually “hopes to crack down on looser rules that make it easier for vape companies to funnel challenges through the nation’s most conservative federal appeals court, rather than another venue.”

Reuters: Trump moves to toss Jan. 6 obstruction charges, citing Supreme Court ruling
Andrew Goudsward reports that on Thursday Donald Trump and his lawyers “urged a federal judge to toss out two obstruction charges central to the case that the former U.S. president illegally sought to overturn his 2020 election defeat, citing a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling raising the legal bar for those offenses.”

Reuters: US judge deals setback to Republican suit against Biden student debt relief
Daniel Wiessner and Nate Raymond report that on Wednesday, federal Judge Randall in Georgia “dealt a setback to a legal challenge by seven Republican-led states to the latest student debt forgiveness plan from President Joe Biden's administration, removing Georgia from the case and moving it to Missouri.”
