In every corner of America, democracy is under siege. Our mission is clear: no one is above the law.
Join us—Wednesday, August 20 at 7:30 pm ET / 4:30 pm PT—for a virtual gathering with the Not Above the Law Coalition. Featuring local and state officials leading the fight—Florida Rep. Anna Eskamani, Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman, New York Rep. Micah Lasher, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Los Angeles labor activist Héctor (Teto) Huezo—we'll learn how they're resisting authoritarian threats with policy, law, legislation, and organizing.
On the call, you'll:
Hear stories of courageous action from officials and organizers nationwide.
Learn how state and local leaders are pushing back against anti‑democratic forces.
Gain resources and practical ways to plug in and act.
This isn't just a moment to watch—it's a moment to act. Whether you're already engaged or looking to get started, you'll leave inspired with a roadmap for defending democracy.
Because make no mistake: real authoritarian threats loom. President Trump recently joked—seriously—that "if we happen to be in a war … no more elections," implying he could extend his presidency by suspending elections altogether—an alarming hint at authoritarian impulse. (C-Span)
He's also vowed to eliminate mail‑in voting and voting machines ahead of the 2026 midterms, promising to sign an executive order to ban them—despite legal experts affirming he has no constitutional authority to override state control of elections. (AP News)
These are not abstract threats—they are existential threats to the very foundation of our democracy. As critics warn, such rhetoric and actions edge toward authoritarianism, undermining faith in democratic institutions.
This call is our collective response. Stand with those who refuse to bow and believe that no one is above the law in the United States.

Our work is rooted in peaceful advocacy through exercising our constitutional rights: voting, free speech, peaceful assembly, rallies, protests, and acts of civil disobedience. We use these tools to defend our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and our democracy. And together, we will win.
Join us to build People Power! Together, we can champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people's will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
