The United States is hurtling toward a dangerous crossroads, where democratic principles and transparency are being overshadowed by authoritarian control and government secrecy.
At the heart of this shift is a leader—Dictator Don—who is aggressively steering our country toward a militarized state while gutting the programs that support everyday Americans. As 34-time convicted felon President-but-not-a-leader Donald Trump's actions are not just reckless—they are calculated power grabs designed to centralize authority, suppress dissent, and dismantle the democratic safeguards that have defined our nation for generations.
A chilling sign of this transformation came to light just days ago. Top Cabinet officials—including the Vice President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Adviser—were caught using a commercial messaging app to discuss secret war plans for Yemen. Shockingly, they accidentally included a journalist in the group chat. This alarming breach of national security not only highlights the gross incompetence under Dictator Don's regime but also underscores the growing disregard for the chain of command, oversight, and the rule of law. Our most sensitive military decisions are being handled with the carelessness of a high school group project.
This level of carelessness would be unthinkable under a functional democratic administration. But under Dictator Don, it's just another day in a government increasingly run by loyalty over competence, secrecy over transparency, and militarism over diplomacy. While these officials played war on Signal, American families struggled to afford groceries, medications, and rent. Why? Because Dictator Don is gutting our programs to funnel resources into his authoritarian war machine.
Programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans benefits, SNAP, education, and other programs are all on the chopping block. These programs aren't just line items in a budget—they are lifelines for millions of Americans. Yet Dictator Don views them as obstacles to his true ambition: building an unaccountable, heavily armed government that answers only to him. By bypassing Congress and slashing social services, he is clearing the path for a massive transfer of resources from the people to the military-industrial complex.
This is not a coincidence—it's a playbook. Authoritarian leaders throughout history have followed this same blueprint. They defund public welfare, inflate military budgets, and surround themselves with loyal enforcers ready to silence opposition. Militarization becomes both a tool and a symbol of control. The message is clear: the government no longer exists to serve its people—it exists to rule them.
Dictator Don's immigration policies further reveal the dangers of this militarized mindset. Rather than work with Congress to pass meaningful reform, Trump chooses to demonize asylum seekers, turning border control into a tool of cruelty and spectacle. Reports from ICE detention centers like Krome in Miami paint a horrifying picture of life under Dictator Don's regime. Women recount how officers chained them together for hours without food, water, or access to toilets—forcing them to urinate on the floor. Cramped into overcrowded cells, one woman said, "We were like sardines in a jar."
These abuses are not unfortunate anomalies—they are features of a system designed to dehumanize and terrify. Under Dictator Don, the U.S. immigration system is less about protecting borders and more about projecting power. It's about creating an enemy, manufacturing fear, and using that fear to justify militarization, surveillance, and brutality.
Meanwhile, public support for compassionate and lawful immigration reform is overwhelming. Polls show that 69% of voters support a system that allows people to seek asylum legally. But rather than reflect the will of the people, Dictator Don distorts it. He uses fear of "the other" to distract from the real threats: collapsing social programs, rising inequality, and out-of-control housing, healthcare, and education costs.
The solution isn't just to denounce these injustices but to demand a better path forward. Congress must act now to rein in Dictator Don's authoritarian ambitions and restore a government that prioritizes people over power. That means:
Protecting and expanding vital social programs like Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, SNAP, Veterans programs, education, and more.
Investing in humane and efficient immigration processes, including hiring more asylum officers and judges.
Ending the militarization of border enforcement and closing inhumane detention centers.
Redirecting military overreach back into the service of diplomacy, peace, and domestic investment.
Seeking asylum is a human right. Healthcare and Housing is a human right. Dignity is a human right.
None of these values can survive in a system that prioritizes tanks over teachers, drones over doctors, and prisons over programs.
The founders of the United States never intended a single man to rule the United States with unchecked power and a personal army.
Dictator Don is turning our military into a joke, our government into a circus, and our nation into a cautionary tale.
If we want to stop this descent into authoritarianism, we must fight for the soul of our democracy now—before it's too late.

As my representative I expect you to speak out and champion bills that strengthen freedom over fascism. I expect you to demand hearings immediately into this national security breach that happened on Signal.
I will work hard to let my family and friends know of your record if you are silent or accepting of this authoritarian takeover by Trump and Elon Musk. I do not support closing of any department or cutting funds that have been allocated for our communities. You should be working to expand programs that help our families.
