My sincerest apologies for sending this out so late tonight. Have you ever had one of those days where everything just seems to go off the rails? Well, that was my day today. I was supposed to be on a flight at 4 a.m., but those plans were completely derailed by the winter storms hammering the Northeast. Then, my computer decided to act up. As if that wasn’t enough, midway through writing this piece, I had to make a quick trip to urgent care for a loved one. Add the whirlwind of today’s news cycle, and let’s just say I’m more than ready to move on to Wednesday.
That said, I wanted to share the follow-up to yesterday’s event, which was a great success with nearly 1,000 attendees! If you weren’t able to make it, no worries—here’s the recap for Reclaiming People Power: Democracy Starts With Us:
January 6, 2021
This was not just an attack on a building; it was an attack on democracy itself.
These events were fueled by lies meant to silence the voices of millions of Americans whose votes were legitimately cast. The insurrection was not a spontaneous eruption—it was the result of deliberate actions, inaction, and indifference to escalating threats.
We must never forget this assault on democracy, nor can we ignore the warnings that were ignored. To forget is to invite history to repeat itself. It is our shared responsibility to honor the bravery of those who defended us and to work tirelessly to ensure that the ideals of liberty, justice, and democracy prevail. Only through vigilance and action can we prevent such atrocities from happening again.
Who is People Power?
People Power United is a grassroots group of over 200,000+ members in all 50 states - powered by people like YOU. We champion progress and power to the people.

What can we do?
Never forget the insurrection of January 6th and don’t let them erase what happened that day (resource coming).
Protect the committee’s work and denounce any pardons for insurrectionists
Honor our rights and freedoms by committing to a an hour or two a week dedicated to holding leaders accountable and championing progress and power to the people.
Why do we need to build people power?
Building people power is essential because it places the strength of our communities in the hands of everyday individuals rather than distant institutions or wealthy elites. When we unite, organize, and take action together, we amplify our voices and create a force capable of driving real change.
People power fosters accountability, ensures that leaders represent the true will of the majority, and pushes for policies that prioritize fairness, justice, and opportunity for all. By reclaiming our collective power, we can challenge inequality, resist oppression, and build a future where everyone—regardless of race, gender, or income—has the chance to thrive.
When we come together in unity, we can face challenges and build a society that reflects our shared values of liberty, justice, and dignity for all.
What can we do?
Champion People over Politics
Don’t give up or give in!
Join groups that are GROWING (like People Power)! If groups are not growing-they are dying.
Share content that empowers people to take action. Don’t feed the trolls.
Inspire people to take action and reclaim their power.
Go beyond marches. Marches are awesome but we must build movement power!
