📢 Hundreds of thousands of American troops have died fighting for Freedom over Fascism

How dare Republicans desecrate their memory.

With Memorial Day just around the corner, I want to take a moment of privilege and express my heartfelt gratitude to American armed services personnel, veterans, and their families. Your sacrifices have made our nation stronger.

I am also sorry our nation has failed you in many ways. Our leaders have become greedy and fail to recognize that your sacrifice and your families deserve our profound appreciation.  

How dare Republicans desecrate their memory

• On January 6th, 2021, former President Donald Trump aided and abetted an insurrection on our nation. As Capitol police were under attack, Trump stood by and did nothing. The January 6th insurrection is the most egregious attack, I believe, to the memories of our soldiers. To think that our commander-in-chief did nothing as harm fell on the capitol and threatened our democracy is very disturbing.

• Former President Donald Trump vows to become a "dictator" on "day one"¹

• President Donald Trump abused his power by sharing national security information with individuals. ²

• Former President Donald Trump abused his power by taking classified documents and not returning them to the American people. ³

• Former President Donald Trump speaks highly of Nazis, Hitler, Putin, and other dictators. ⁴

• Republican GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson and others are supportive of Trump’s abuse of power and the crimes he has been accused of. ⁵

• Former President Donald Trump uses "Vermin" to refer to fellow Americans who politically disagree with his policies. ⁶

• Several Republicans voted against the PACT Act, which helps Veterans get the critical care they need. "The PACT Act has provided more than 1 million veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and toxic substances the healthcare benefits needed to live a life of dignity."- Speaker Hakeem Jeffries ⁷ ⁸

• Several Republican members of Congress have voted against military families by voting against protecting abortion access. ⁹

• Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville disrupted the lives of thousands of our military families to push an anti-abortion agenda on members of the military and threatened America with a national security risk. ¹⁰ 

Lastly, I will point out that many Republicans are actively promoting a culture of racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, misogyny, sexism, ageism, ableism, sizeism, elitism, transphobia, misogynoir, and bigotry! If you don't believe me, check their social media feeds or watch them regurgitate bigoted talking points on Fox or Newsmax.

Our troops and veterans, their families, and our nation deserve better. My promise to you is we will not forget. We will not stop. We will fight for you as you have fought for us.
