In honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now. - Martin Luther King Jr.
Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day. Let us remember and honor the legacy of this great civil rights leader with action.
When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Let us honor Dr. King by advocating for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act. If enacted, the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would be the most significant, comprehensive anti-corruption and voting rights bills in generations. This transformational legislation is essential to counteract the many voter suppression and sabotage laws recently enacted in at least 20 states. Reforms contained in the bills are popular, and many of them are tried-and-true solutions that have passed in red, blue, and purple states.

I believe in the power of the people. People Power United members believe in the possibility of change and work to make it happen. I have seen the love and determination of folks stepping up to write letters and postcards to voters, signing petitions and letter campaigns, making calls, sending texts, hitting doors, and dropping literature. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices. - Laurie Woodward Garcia, People Power United
