Living near Parkland, there is a scar that no one can forget. The loss of 17 lives due to gun violence at a High School is forever etched on our nation's memory. 

I remember going to the Parkland vigil and watching X González (also known as Emma González) and David Hogg speak out, frustrated that as kids in high school, no one was protecting their rights to get an education free from gun violence. 

I remember the disappointing trip to Tallahassee with busloads of students and parents hoping to make a change in gun safety laws, only to be met with sneering Republican lawmakers and Marion Hammer, the NRA stooge. 

I also remember the night of the Pulse tragedy and knowing how hurt so many of my LGBTQIA+ friends would be. 

I could go on, but I know you have similar stories, too. We all deserve to live in a community free of gun violence. We can honor all victims and their families with action.  Join us as People Power takes on gun safety reforms.

I am pleased to share that a vote will be happening in the Senate this week on a few bills that will save lives.

1. Can you please call your Senator at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote yes on:

•  S.173 Ethan's Law - Sponsored by Senator Richard Blumenthal

•  S.494 Background Check Expansion Act - Sponsored by Senator Chris Murphy

2. Lastly, can you take 1 (one) minute Send a message to your lawmaker: Everyone deserves to live in a community free of gun violence

Please pick up the phone and make the call. Even if you think your Senator is a loser. Keep calling! Our nation, the parents, families, and everyone in our community deserve better. We should be able to go to church, schools, hospitals, or anywhere in our community and be free of gun violence.
