🗽Protect Democracy
🗽Stay informed with daily news updates to hold our leaders accountable and protect democracy. A well informed citizenry is the best defense against tyranny.
Together, we can realize a democracy that represents, reflects, and responds to all of us.
For far too long, special interests, ultra-wealthy donors, and vote suppressors have dominated our politics and attempted to silence the voices of everyday Americans, especially in Black and Brown communities.
America's democracy is under attack as the MAGA agenda seeks to undermine our democratic institutions, erode the rule of law, and strip away the rights that ensure every voice is heard and every vote counts. Join us to champion our rights, freedoms, and democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people's will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.

Protect Democracy - News Briefs
The US election, while shocking, was not a repudiation of democracy | Austin Sarat
The Guardian By Austin Sarat
Democracy requires faith of various kinds. It requires faith in the wisdom of the people, in the durability of its institutions and in a future that we cannot foresee. As one commentator aptly puts it, we must “recognize that democracy is a process and not a destination”. This week’s stunning election results will surely test the faith that sustains democracy.
Trump’s [the felon] triumph threatens an already battered democracy, experts say
Washington Post By Sarah Ellison
Donald [the felon]Trump’s return to the White House signals a significant breakdown of an already battered democracy, experts say. Almost as dangerous, they contend, much of the electorate sees him as democracy’s savior.
Protecting Democracy From Trump [the felon] Now In Hands Of Congressional GOP, Supreme Court
HuffPost By S.V. Date
With American voters deciding to return Donald Trump to the White House, the task of blocking his autocratic impulses is now left to two groups that, to date, have shown little interest in doing so: congressional Republicans and the Supreme Court. Trump has spoken about using the Justice Department and the military to go after political opponents and those he has deemed “the enemy from within.” Both would be abuses of power and possibly violate the law.
Why Harris's Push for Democracy Didn't Land With Voters
NY Times By Shawn Hubler
Her campaign pitch was moving, even high-minded. If Vice President Kamala Harris were elected to the White House, she would safeguard the ideals of a good nation. Voters had a choice, she said: democracy, constitutional rights and bedrock freedoms - or Donald J. Trump's [the felon] "chaos and division." On Tuesday, the nation replied. The answer from more than half of voters seemed to dismiss warnings that Mr. Trump [the felon] was a threat to principles on which the country had been founded.
Donald Trump [the felon] has won — and American democracy is now in grave danger
Vox By Zack Beauchamp
The 2024 presidential election is over — and Donald Trump is the victor. There is no doubt about the election’s legitimacy: Trump is on track to win the Electoral College by a wide margin, and potentially win the popular vote for the first time. Yet while the election itself was clearly on the level, what comes next may not be. Having won power democratically, Trump is now in a position to enact his long-proposed plans to hollow out American democracy from within.

People Power United’s Statement on Protecting Democracy
In response to recent MAGA shenanigans to suppress votes and stop voting rights bills like the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act from passing, People Power United - a progressive grassroots group - issued the following statement:
“America's democracy is under attack as the MAGA agenda seeks to undermine our democratic institutions, erode the rule of law, and strip away the rights that ensure every voice is heard and every vote counts.
