The Associated Press Trump's protests aside, his agenda has plenty of overlap with Project 2025

• ATLANTA (AP) — Donald Trump insists that Project 2025, a nearly 1,000-page blueprint for a hard-right turn in American government and society, does not reflect his priorities for a White House encore.

• Yet from economics, immigration and education policy to civil rights and foreign affairs, there are common ideas and shared ideology between Project 2025 and Trump's outline for another term — from his official 'Agenda 47' slate, the Republican platform he personally approved and his other statements.

Threats to Democracy:

The Hill Harris, a freedom-loving defense hawk, is the choice for traditional conservatives

• The people around her will force her to respect the rule of law and our constitutional norms even in the extremely unlikely event that she doesn't want to. She certainly isn't going to implement Project 2025.

• The same can't be said of Trump. As much as he denies even knowing what it is, he's already tried to implement some of Project 2025's most extreme recommendations. There's every reason to be concerned that Trump will do all the crazy, dangerous things he is promising to do — suspend the Constitution, throw his enemies in jail, criminally prosecute Google, etc. — and warp America's democracy beyond recognition.

Opinion:

• So now, when Trump promises to be a dictator on day one, to reinstate his 'Muslim ban,' and to deport student protestors, I do take his words seriously. When Project 2025 — which was crafted in part by six former Trump administration cabinet members and over 140 former Trump staffers — outlines a plan to track women's pregnancies, eliminate protections by for LGBTQ+ people and end access to abortion and contraception, I take that very seriously.

• Republican nominee Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he has nothing to do with the controversial Project 2025. At the presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, he said he didn't know who was involved in creating it, and wasn't going to read it.

• Homan, the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from 2017 to 2018, is one of the writers of Project 2025. He's previously alluded to being part of Trump's administration if he beats Harris this November.

Trump’s Project 2025 Will Give Extreme MAGA Republicans Total Control

• Donald Trump’s Project 2025 is a blatant power grab that aims to give extreme MAGA Republicans unchecked authority. They plan to use this power to criminalize abortion, undermine the middle class, and dismantle Social Security and Medicare.

• Under Trump’s Project 2025, Republicans intend to impose a nationwide abortion ban and create a national registry to monitor women’s pregnancies and miscarriages. They even threaten to imprison doctors and nurses who provide essential care.

• If enacted, Project 2025 would also gut the Affordable Care Act, leading to higher healthcare costs for everyone and a loss of protections for pre-existing conditions. Workers would lose their right to overtime pay, and middle-class families would face tax hikes—all while wealthy corporations receive new handouts.

• Republicans' Project 2025 includes a detailed plan to dismantle Social Security and Medicare as we know them. This means slashing benefits for seniors and allowing Big Pharma to charge exorbitant prices for medication.
