📩 Supreme Court ruling on SEC v. Jarkesy; Statement by Take Back the Court Action Fund

People Power United is a proud member of the United for Democracy coalition. In response to the Supreme Court ruling on SEC v. Jarkesy, a fellow coalition member, Take Back the Court Action Fund, released this statement:

Just now, the Supreme Court released its opinion in SEC v. Jarkesy — hamstringing the agency’s ability to protect people from fraud and throwing the constitutionality of more than 2,000 administrative law judges into question.

“It says pretty much everything you need to know about the Republican Supreme Court majority — appointed by a convicted fraudster — that on back to back days, they made it easier to bribe government officials and to commit fraud,” said Sarah Lipton-Lubet, president of Take Back the Court Action Fund. “At least as disturbing as the actual outcome here is the Supreme Court’s ongoing judicial power grab. If the conservative justices have demonstrated one consistent belief, it’s that the other branches of government only have authority if they follow the Republican justices’ policy preferences. That’s not a democracy, it's a juristocracy.”
