We are powerful
We are powerful, and nothing can hold us back! Like many of you, I woke up today with a heavy feeling in my chest. Instead of letting it weigh me down, I chose to write myself a pep talk—a reminder of what’s possible when we channel our energy into action. I wanted to share it with you because, like me, you might need a little nudge to remember just how strong and capable you are. Let’s not let fear or self-doubt take the lead. Together, we can rise above and achieve incredible things!
My Letter
Hey there! Do you remember eight years ago, when the Trump administration was about to take over, and it felt like the world was closing in? When fear for your family, friends, and community consumed your thoughts, you couldn’t shake the helplessness? When you watched the rise of MAGA in America, emboldening lies, hate-filled rhetoric, and all the worst parts of humanity—racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, misogyny, ableism, transphobia, and bigotry of every kind? Those days felt dark, didn’t they?
But here’s the thing: those days didn’t break you. Instead, they made you stronger. You discovered that fear and worry lose their power when met with action. You learned that empowering others, standing up for dignity, and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive wasn’t just possible but necessary. You became part of the solution, refusing to be paralyzed by fear or resigned to the status quo.
You realized it was okay to make mistakes and learn from them. You saw that plenty of people were content to complain and stay stuck—but you chose a different path. You found your people: a community of changemakers who believe, like you, that progress doesn’t just happen—we make it happen.
Yes, there were lonely days—phone banking, door knocking, attending meetings, etc.—but there were also moments of love, laughter, and solidarity. You kept marching toward justice, knowing it was worth every step. You leaned into your fear and turned it into courage. You even took risks—getting arrested for democracy, for Dreamers, for justice—because you understood that some things are worth fighting for.
You found your voice. On social media, you connected with like-minded people and let go of trolls, bots, and MAGA noise. You built something incredible. With no budget or staff, you helped to grow a People Power United grassroots movement of over 200,000 people across all 50 states, taking action and holding leaders accountable. You created and attended events, trainings, and opportunities to empower others to do the same.
Today, as Joe and Jill Biden leave the White House, there’s a bittersweetness in the air. He wasn’t perfect—no president ever is—but he did so much good-and there is still more to do. And while the incoming administration stirs worry, here’s what’s different now: you are not the same person you were eight years ago.
You know how to organize. You know how to empower. You know that every time you feel that pit of anxiety, there’s an action you can take—a petition to sign, a letter to send, a door to knock on, a conversation to have, and so much more. You know that even though the other side has billionaires and corporations throwing up roadblocks, they can’t stop people power. They can’t stop a mom on a mission to build a better future for her child. They can’t stop any one of us who have tasted freedom and justice and know they are worth fighting for.
So let’s grow this movement. Let’s champion progress and create a community where everyone can thrive. Together, we can face the challenges ahead—not with fear, but with hope, action, and the unstoppable power of people united for change.
Stand Against Oppression Now

The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated. Democracy is not self-sustaining—it requires people to fight for it. Speaking out against bigotry, advocating for marginalized communities, and holding leaders accountable are not optional; they are moral imperatives. The question is not whether good people can stop the rise of fascism, but whether they will act before it’s too late. Trump’s Project 2025, backed by MAGA Republicans, is a calculated assault on our families, communities, and the very foundations of our rights, freedoms, the rule of law, and democracy. Silence is complicity. It is time to stand together and act decisively to stop this dangerous agenda.

"We will be the keepers of the flame and, as Emma Lazarus’ poem says of the Statue of Liberty, "We lift our lamps—as a beacon to those who feel lost, betrayed, and frightened, yes. But also to shine our light, continually, on what they try to get away with. We will keep the flame burning as long as it takes."
