Hi friends! As promised, I’m beginning to share some reflections on the last election cycle. This is only the beginning, as there’s so much to unpack, and having these conversations is essential for us to reflect, learn, and take steps forward.
They want us to give up. Let's not give them the satisfaction.

They want us live in fear. Let's not give them the satisfaction.
Today, I want to address the second great challenge we face: fear and intimidation. Fear is a powerful tool that bullies and tyrants use to control, suppress, and divide. But let me be clear—we are not going to live our lives in fear or let intimidation dictate our actions.
Yes, we face daunting obstacles. There is a madman at the helm, surrounded by an organized crime ring determined to dismantle our values and democracy itself. But we are stronger than their threats, lies, and chaos. Fear will not define us, nor will it shape our future.
Instead, we will build our lives—and our activism—on a foundation of love, joy, and resilience. We will find strength in our communities, support in one another, and find fulfillment in the work we do together. Fear may try to darken our path, but our shared purpose and hope will light the way forward.
Living in fear only serves the oppressors. They became our masters controlling us with fear. It isolates us, weakens our resolve, and stops us from taking bold actions to create the change we wish to see. But when we reject fear, when we embrace the power of courage and collective action, we shatter the illusion of control that bullies and tyrants cling to.
So let’s live with intentionality. Let’s bring love into every conversation, every day of our advocacy, every march, every effort to make the world better. Let’s find joy in the connections we make and the victories we achieve, no matter how small.
Together, we are unstoppable—not because fear doesn’t exist, but because we refuse to let it rule us.
This is our moment to choose hope over fear, love over hate, and action over despair. We are building a future that is brighter, freer, and filled with the unshakable spirit of community. Fear has no place here.
This is our moment to stand together, to lead with courage, and to show America and the world that hope is not just a feeling—it’s a force for change.
URGENT CALL-TO-ACTION
Please call your members of Congress at (202) 224-3121 today. Here’s what we need you to do and why:
Call your House Representative and then call back for your Senators—it's simple and powerful.
Share these urgent messages with them:
Speak out against Project 2025: Ask them to publicly condemn this dangerous agenda that threatens our rights, freedoms, and democracy. Silence is not an option.
Demand transparency on the Matt Gaetz investigation: Urge your representatives to push for the release of the report on Gaetz. The American people deserve to know the truth—we cannot allow someone with unresolved criminal allegations to wield power over the Justice Department.
Vote NO on H.R. 9495, the deceptively named Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act: This bill is a Trojan horse designed to weaponize the office of the Treasury Secretary to silence critics of Trump and MAGA Republicans. It would grant unchecked power to strip nonprofits like the ACLU, the League of Women Voters, and others of their tax-exempt status—without warning, a hearing, or any chance to appeal. This is a direct attack on civil society and must be stopped.
Tell the Senators: Stop stalling and confirm all pending judicial nominees.
Your voice matters. These calls take only minutes but can have a huge impact. Together, we can hold Congress accountable and protect the principles that unite us. Let’s flood those phone lines and make our demands loud and clear!

In a democracy, the principle that "no one is above the law" is non-negotiable.
Allowing leaders to escape the consequences of their actions sends a dangerous message that power, not justice, prevails—ultimately destabilizing society and giving rise to authoritarianism.
History warns us that unchecked power leads to corruption, oppression, and the silencing of our voices, threatening the freedoms we cherish.

Laurie’s Post-Election Message
After living in Florida for over 30 years, I've witnessed firsthand how easily rights, freedoms, democracy, and the rule of law can erode in a red state.
I share with many of you the feelings of deep disappointment in seeing the election of former President Trump and convicted felon to the highest office of President, the loss of the U.S. Senate, and the precarious hold on the U.S. House. This is not just a matter of politics—it's personal.
The day we stop advocating fiercely for our families, friends, co-workers, and communities is the day we surrender to authoritarianism—and that day is not today.
There will be endless analyses, explanations, and debates about what happened and why. I'll share my thoughts when the time is right, but remember this: our voice remains strong.
No one can silence us from speaking out against racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, misogyny, sexism, ageism, ableism, sizeism, elitism, transphobia, misogynoir, and bigotry!
No one can take away our resolve to demand accountability from our leaders to uphold the people's will.
And no one can extinguish our movement for progress and empowerment for every American to thrive.
This experience, like many others, is an opportunity to rethink how we protect and expand the principles we believe in.
We must come together, address this setback, and build a stronger, more resilient movement for the future.
Together with you, I am looking forward to turning this disappointment into a driving force for accountability, justice, and unwavering commitment to the ideals that brought us here.
