America is brave because you are. And we need that bravery now more than ever.
People tend to retreat whenever there is a national uproar, such as the upcoming Trump trial(s), which start on April 15th. They turn off the news, go off social media, they check out. I get it; the news and social media can be overwhelming. But this is not the time to retreat. Now is the time to digest information from reputable sources and push for transparency, justice, and progress.
We all need to prepare for the upcoming trials. Our former President and current presidential candidate, Donald Trump, is accused of 91 crimes that include the Espionage Act, obstruction, attempting to steal votes, and a conspiracy to overthrow democracy. Let that sink in.
In this country, when someone is accused of a crime, they are innocent until proven guilty. Then, they must be responsible for defending themselves with witnesses, testimony, evidence, etc. With 91 criminal charges, Trump can not defend himself because he has no defense.
Simply declaring that you are a victim of a witch hunt and blaming others for your actions shows how weak you are as a leader and how little you respect the rule of law.
Make no mistake: if Trump is elected President, he will pardon himself, imprison enemies, and destroy freedom and justice around the world. From his days in the 2016 campaign to now, Donald Trump has repeatedly shown a desire to be subservient to Putin and Russia's expansion into Europe. The Party of Putin threatens all of us. There is nothing that he will not say or do to keep himself in power and prop up Russia. Trump has demonstrated a strong desire to be an authoritarian despot focused on political retribution, contempt, hostility, misinformation, and the erosion of the rule of law and civil liberties. Trump is a clear and present danger to the American people, democracy, our rights and freedoms, and our national security.Â
We must push back and actively challenge attempts to subvert justice and democracy. ​America deserves the best in its President, not a whiny, weak leader like Trump. ​In preparation for the upcoming trial(s), we will be urging all of our People Power United members to:
