📢 We, the People, must rise to protect what makes us American.
🗽Together, we can champion our rights, freedoms, rule of law, democracy, hold our leaders accountable to the people's will, and inspire voters to make a meaningful difference.
No president—not even one installed by billionaire donors and MAGA extremists—has the authority to amend the Constitution by executive order. That power lies only with we the people through Congress and the states, as enshrined in Article V.
Today, the Supreme Court is hearing a case on Birthright citizenship. Before I deep dive into this case and why it matters, I am sharing again what I wrote in yesterday's post:
Our job is not to divide families or deny belonging.
Our job is to comfort, protect, and build a country where every child can thrive, regardless of the borders they crossed or the papers they carry.
I refuse to participate in any system that punishes children, rips families apart, or denies anyone the right to feel safe and welcome in the place they call home.
Because being American is not about exclusion—it's about standing up for one another.
Birthright citizenship is at the center of this fight — the constitutional guarantee that anyone born in the United States is a citizen, regardless of their parents' immigration status.
The Fourteenth Amendment was passed in the aftermath of the Civil War to ensure full citizenship and equal rights for formerly enslaved people and their children. Its language is unequivocal: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens." In United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898), the Supreme Court affirmed that this guarantee applies even if a child's parents are not U.S. citizens. That interpretation has stood for more than a century.
However, on January 20, 2025, Trump signed an executive order titled "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship," declaring that children born on U.S. soil without at least one citizen or permanent resident parent are not citizens (White House, 2025). The order is a direct contradiction of the Constitution and existing legal precedent.
The Trump administration knows its legal argument is weak. Instead of defending the order's constitutionality in Court, it has taken a backdoor route: asking the Supreme Court to limit the scope of the lower courts' nationwide injunctions without deciding on the order's legality.
This is gaslighting by legal design. If the Court narrows the injunctions, Trump will falsely claim victory, even though the underlying order is unconstitutional. This will create chaos around the country. Babies born on the same day, in the same hospital, could be treated differently based solely on the immigration status of their parents. This dystopian scenario would burden families, hospitals, and state systems alike.
Trump's executive order is not policy — it is propaganda. It is part of a broader strategy to dehumanize immigrants and divide Americans. By suggesting that children born to immigrants are somehow "less American," Trump reinforces an us-vs-them mentality that corrodes our national fabric. This tactic preys on fear. It tells the undocumented community—and millions of citizen children—that their rights can be stripped away with a signature.
Trump’s cruelty isn’t colorblind—it’s calculated. And it always starts with people of color.
This is not just an immigrant issue. This is an American issue.
FWD.us estimates that up to 4.8 million U.S. citizen children have at least one undocumented or temporary-status parent (FWD.us, 2025). These children are our classmates, our coworkers, our neighbors. This executive order seeks to create a tiered society where a child's rights depend on their parents' paperwork.
Moreover, the consequences could ripple for generations. Without nationwide relief from the courts, states could begin weaponizing this uncertainty to deny services, target children, and even revoke rights previously granted at birth.
The Supreme Court Must Stand Firm
This is not just a question of law but a test of who we are as a nation.
The Court can review the procedural question of nationwide injunctions. However, it must also affirm that birthright citizenship is not optional. It is a constitutional right, not a privilege that politicians can grant or deny. Anything less would leave millions vulnerable to harm—and give legal cover to a radical executive power grab.
If Trump and his allies succeed in redefining citizenship, it will not just be immigrants who suffer — it will be every American whose rights rest on the rule of law.
This is why we must show up, speak out, and build power to defend the rights of every child born in this country. Birthright citizenship is not just a legal doctrine; it is the heartbeat of our democracy.
It is time to rise and remind the nation: All children born here belong here.

I hate to be negative…but I’m getting tired of the marches protesting, signing letters, petitions, writing messages and posting, reposting, talking with people about current state of our country, our democracy, our government, too many injustices too many abuses, too many scandals, too much abuse of power , not respect for our CONSTITUTION, too much disruption of government agencies and we get no results except for Lawsuits that will take forever to resolve and in the meantime Trump MAGA madness keeps on going and destroying whatever is in their way they dislike or disagree😡 i can’t take it!
WE THE PEOPLE HAVE TO do more. Our actions have to have results! We need to march in the millions or billions and disrupt our highways in a way that commerce and our most important ports will be disrupted and not for one day but many. We need good logistics and plan the best protest ever ! 👊 If WE paralice the country WE will get the orange maga mad president to resign 👍👊 HE WILL have not other options 👏👊👊👊what we do will have great consequences or it won’t work!
WE THE PEOPLE of the DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE USA 🇺🇸 we have the power not the politicians 👊
