Why is it that Senators have no problem giving billions in tax breaks to their cronies but have zero interest in taking care of the most vulnerable in our community?
If the children are our future, then there is no greater way to invest in the future than investing in our children. -Dr. Nirvadha Singh
In this community, we will always respect our different religious beliefs! I would like to wish all who are celebrating a happy Easter, happy Passover, and happy Ramadan. May we all work together for a world based on peace and renewal.
I am outraged that some senators are stalling progress on expanding the Child Tax Credit (CTC).
Why is it that Senators have no problem giving billions in tax breaks to their cronies but have zero interest in taking care of the most vulnerable in our community?
The evidence is clear: the Child Tax Credit (CTC) provides critical assistance to families as they confront the rising costs of raising children, helping low-income families with necessities like food, utilities, and rent or mortgage payments, as well as education expenses―and families need that help now.
H.R. 7024, Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act, contains an essential expansion of the Child Tax Credit for working families that will reach 16 million low-income children, lifting 400,000 of them out of poverty in the first year.1 On January 31, it passed overwhelmingly through the House with a 357-70 vote. Yes, that is correct; it passed the House already!
As a mom, my job is to feed, clothe, shelter, educate, and love my child. But I also have a job as an American mom, and that is to fight for my child's (and all children's) rights. I know it seems hopeless sometimes because we have MAGA Republicans who have gone radical in pushing their extreme white Christian nationalist agenda. As a Christian, I was taught that we need to take care of the least of us, and well I am not going to stop pushing our lawmakers to do better and protect the most vulnerable in our community. I hope you will join me.
As champions for progress, we must double down on our efforts to promote progress, and we have to be willing to get uncomfortable. We must push our leaders to do better in our communities, but we must also push ourselves to talk to friends, families, and people in our communities about issues and voting.
America is brave because you are. And we need that bravery now more than ever.

Republicans believe erroneously that “tough love” will motivate those that need assistance. If only you worked harder, or did this or did that you would be able to pull yourself up by the “boot straps”. If we give those lazy people too much help, they’ll just lay around watching TV. Heck with medical care - it doesn’t make them money. Why take the federal funds allocated to feed children? 15 Red states turned the money down!
Republican policies are designed to make life tough for those at the bottom and reward those “hard workers” at the top. See we did it says the White guy who inherited a fortune. We’re self-made. Sure Elon Musk did everything himself - inherited wealth and privilege then started his companies with no employees? In fact, he even refilled the toilet paper!
Along time ago in a different world, I thought Republicans were fiscally conservative. They really are‘t they, just “save” bucks by turning a blind eye to those in need. They are so off course now that I truly believe they all have black hearts and dead souls.
There is no redemption for those who do not extend a helping hand to ANYONE in need whether that be the Palestinians or the Garcia family in El Paso.
