You are the hero of this story
A hero is someone who does what must be done, and needs no other reason.
I am forever amazed at the love in our People Power United community. I am immensely thankful for your emails and the stories you tell about why you are such a powerful advocate for causes that are important to our community. It is a privilege to hear your personal accounts and why an issue is meaningful to you. I am also aware of the hundreds of thousands of actions taken by you and other members to fight for our community. Thank you for being so awesome!
It is true that our nation is experiencing a difficult time, but I am confident that together we can make the necessary changes to push it in a better direction. Regrettably, over the weekend we received news of two incidents that demonstrate why we have to keep working hard to reject hatred. In Jacksonville, three people of color were killed in an act of racism and intolerance. Additionally, in Orlando a LGTBQIA+ mural was vandalized with a homophobic message.
Hatred can not be tolerated. EVER. Our north star will always be championing power to the people, making sure all can vote and thrive, and standing up against racism, xenophobia, islamophobia, anti-semitism, homophobia, misogyny, sizeism, ageism, ableism, elitism, and bigotry! Let’s come together and keep championing progress and power to the people.

I believe in the power of the people. I have seen the love and determination of folks stepping up to write letters and postcards to voters, signing petitions and letter campaigns, making calls, sending texts, hitting doors, and dropping literature. There is no power like that of the people, and People Power United stands ready to protect our communities against any and all injustices. - Laurie Woodward Garcia, People Power United
