Right now, our democracy is under direct attack. Billionaires like Elon Musk are gaining control over critical federal systems. Convicted 34-time felon President Donald Trump is surrounding himself with extremists determined to dismantle everything America stands for—turning our government into a theocratic autocracy designed to strip away our rights and freedoms. And while this happens, MAGA Republicans in Congress are not just standing by—they’re helping. Republicans don’t want to represent us, they want to rule over us.
But here's the truth: we are not powerless. In fact, we hold the power they fear most—the power of collective action. We are rising up and pushing back.
No one can impose their racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, misogyny, sexism, ageism, ableism, sizeism, transphobia, misogynoir, elitism, and bigotry on us. We will not be silenced. We will not be sidelined.
This is our moment to stand up, push back, and fight for the country we believe in.
I just got a report from Google about visitors to our People Power United website, and I couldn’t help but smile when I saw some folks asking, "Is People Power United legit?" What a great opportunity to share who we are with our new subscribers and answer some of the common questions we’ve been getting lately. So, let’s dive in!
First, to anyone wondering: yes, we are absolutely legit—legitimately powered by people, not special interests. Here’s the deal: we don’t take donations. You won’t find us on Charity Navigator because we’re not a C3 or C4 nonprofit organization. We’re a 100% grassroots-driven movement, fueled by volunteers who believe in the possibility of change and are actively making it happen. Nobody here is paid; we’re all just passionate individuals working together for a better future.
Our work includes holding leaders accountable through letters, petitions, phone calls, emails, office visits, and more. We also show up where our communities need us most, providing outreach and support to uplift people power champions and make a difference on the ground.
