Our former President is challenging the rule of law and the Constitution at the Supreme Court today.
Trump is not asserting his innocence before the Supreme Court today; he is asserting his privilege.
And that makes today one of the saddest days in America.
Despite attempts this week by Representative Matt Gaetz and other MAGA Republican extremists in the House of Representatives to rewrite history and declare former President Donald Trump did not engage in an insurrection, the American people will not be gaslit.
We are a nation that comes from many lands, speaks many languages, practices many religions, and eats different foods. In this beautiful melting pot called America, we are united under our Constitution and the rule of law.
Donald Trump is not a king and has no privilege over the people of America. No one is above the law. We are a nation of moms, dads, abuelas, abuelos, aunties, uncles, and many others who witnessed the attack on our Capitol on January 6th. We saw firsthand the videos and photos of the desecration of public property, the brutal attack on Capitol police, and threats made to the lives of members of Congress.
Whatever happens at the Supreme Court, we must remember one thing: The incitement of an insurrection by Donald Trump and his attempt to steal the people's vote can not be erased. We must strive as a nation to ensure this never happens again.

The ultimate act of White privilege - I can do anything I want. (Thomas is just a wanna-be white man who has abandoned his heritage.) tRump has based his whole life on this privilege and he needs to be stopped. He is a raging cancer eating away at democracy. He did not earn the respect we traditionally grant to those who hold the highest office in the land. He did not win the popular vote. When he got over the shock of actually becoming president, he knew he just won the con of a lifetime.
Well said, and it bears repeating. He never wastes time asserting his innocence because he knows he has no argument to make.
