Millionaires and billionaires should pay into Social Security ALL year long on ALL of their income, just like the rest of us.
🗽A well informed citizenry is the best defense against tyranny.
Millionaires and billionaires should pay into Social Security ALL year long on ALL of their income, just like the rest of us.
Currently, Republicans in Congress are working to cut Social Security’s earned benefits instead of requiring the wealthy to pay their fair share.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Budget Chair Jodey Arrington (R-TX) demanded a closed-door, fast-track commission to slash Social Security and Medicare without public input.1 Any politician or pundit who says we “can’t afford” to protect and expand Social Security is lying. Social Security is affordable if we require the wealthiest to contribute their fair share.
Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), along with Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), have introduced the Social Security Expansion Act.2 This bill protects and expands Social Security and pays for it by requiring the wealthy to pay in on all their income above $250,000, including unearned investment income. And President Joe Biden campaigned on lifting the cap so that millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share into Social Security. 3
Millionaires and billionaires should pay into Social Security like the rest of us.
Please take 1 minute and sign our joint petition to demand that millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share into Social Security.

Signed!!!!!!!!!!!!¡
Signed. Even if the wealthy didn't have to contribute 4.5% (or whatever the percentage is) they could still be taxed at 1% and given the vast amounts of money involved it should more than rescue and enhance Social Security and Medicare for the foreseeable future.
