📢People Power champions a raise in the minimum wage to $20 by 2030
Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen. - Michael Jordan

Across the United States, hardworking Americans are earning the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, which hasn't increased since 2009. This leaves countless individuals and families struggling to afford basic necessities like food, housing, and healthcare. It's time to raise the minimum wage to $20 and ensure that all workers can live with dignity and economic security.
Raising the minimum wage to $20 by 2030 is a crucial step toward achieving this goal. Minimum wage legislation must also eliminate the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers and tie the minimum wage to inflation, ensuring that wages keep up with the rising cost of living. According to a report by the Economic Policy Institute, tying the minimum wage to inflation is essential to prevent workers from falling behind as prices increase.1
This blatant inequity undermines the very foundation of our economy. When wages do not keep up with the cost of living, the voices of working people are drowned out. We cannot allow our government to ignore the needs of hardworking individuals at the expense of corporate profits. As noted by the National Employment Law Project, raising the minimum wage would not only improve the lives of workers but also stimulate economic growth by increasing consumer spending .
It is time for state legislatures to take decisive action to address this crisis. We need strong, enforceable legislation that will raise the minimum wage to $20 by 2030, eliminate the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers, and tie the minimum wage to inflation.
We must call upon our elected officials to put the needs of their constituents first and stand up for fair wages and economic justice.

I am totally in favor of Congress raising the Federal minimum wage. I live in Ohio, where organizated labor has been trying to gather enough signatures for a citizen initiative on raising Ohio's minimum wage. They did not get the required number of valid signatures in time to get the issue on the November 2024 ballot. Given that failure, I am unwilling to spend time or money on this issue in Ohio at this time.
considering the 7.25 wage was made law Decades ago, the inflation value would actually be about $26/hour.
