FDR's Social Security Act was born from the Great Depression to shield Americans from forces beyond their control. We face a similar test now. Will we allow austerity politics and corporate greed to unravel 90 years of progress—or will we rise to defend the right of every American to retire and live with dignity?
And this is what Orange boy is destroying everything that this money is used for and helping our community and ourselves for the betterment of mankind. .
This administration doesn’t want to see we as a nation be strong. He wants himself to be a dictator. He wants us to look up to him. (NOT HAPPENING.)
I would rather my dollars went to help those in need than fund Trump's golf extravangas, including his security people who cost a million or more per game, or pay to ship his sons to Europe to visit their businesses there.
That’s what they want. They want to Seniors to lose everything so they can come in individuals that have the money by your property pennies on the dollar. And we become homeless and guess what we get arrested we could get put in concentration camps like alligator Alcatraz or become servants to the one percent. It’s not radical thinking it’s where it’s going just open your eyes.
If the debt 'ceiling' is reached, mandatory spending becomes subject to payment prioritization.
If the US doesn't pay the interest on bonds, the financial system of the world is rattled and US financial hegemony could collapse.
If SS doesn't get paid, there will be a bunch of angry US citizens....
Now the next part is ensuring the correct party gets the blame for the default.
Presumably Democrats (rightly) won't help the majority GOP raise the debt ceiling after the most recent budget 'deal' that was obliterated by subsequent rescissions, not to mention the obscene funding levels for ICE. In this scenario I believe the propaganda will be heavy.
It is really preposterous to me that we work hard all of our life and pay into SS and Repugs and Trump are trying to take it away from us. I imagine quite a few of their families have also. What is the reasoning for this when they work very little, get their good pay, free insurance, and get to have this when they are no longer in Congress or presidency without changes or deductions?????
Usually Repugs always trying to do all these things to us when they express they are for the working class and for the Blue(Police). Just like the *BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL* taking everything away and increasing the budget by billions!!!!
People listen up and pay attention to what all Trump is doing in his narcissism and retribution and work to stop him and Repugs. GET ENLIGHTENED AND WISE!!!!
For sure this is bad, but only the beginning. You will work for what Trump and the Republicans want you to for. You will not receive any Government Help!!! Unemployment ( GONE ) ( OSHA ) gone( Workman's Comp. ) gone.( Federal Game Wardens ) gone.( State Park Rangers ) gone. Think I am crazy? It has started now. So happy I got to see some of this great land and my daughter and granddaughter all got see the beauty of America. You won't!!!
If Americans allow him&his reign of terror, you all will become very soon the slaves of not only him&his but also of terrorist putin of russia-bukele of elsalvador-erdogan of turkey-saudis. So, it's either or i.e. either you liberate yourselves free of tRumputin&his or you're gone and enslaved. It's indeed that simple.
The whole reason behind social security was the fact that the elderly did not have 401K and investments so they became dependent on their children - which depleted their savings and became a drain on the economy. Social Security helped offset that dependency and the next generation had money to buy homes or help pay for their kids education.
So they can cut this stuff but senior euthanasia is not a very Christian solution now is it.
Thanks. Looks like we both had a kernel of reality:
The story of a retired teacher living in a chicken coop inspired the founding of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), not Social Security itself.
Here's the story
In 1944, Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, a retired high school principal, discovered a former teacher living in a chicken coop because she couldn't afford proper housing on her meager teacher's pension.
This shocking discovery ignited Dr. Andrus's passion for improving the lives of older Americans and led her to found the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA) in 1947.
Later, in 1958, she expanded the mission and founded the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), which supports and advocates for all people age 50+ and their families.
While the Social Security Act itself was enacted in 1935 as a New Deal initiative to provide a safety net for elderly, unemployed, and disadvantaged Americans, the "chicken coop" story is inextricably linked to the origin and mission of the AARP, an organization that has championed and fought for the very issues the Social Security Act aimed to address.
Actually--Social Security was born when a retired school teacher was found living in an abandoned chicken coop. She had no children to be dependent upon. That was what she could do for herself. FDR heard about it and stepped in.
Fucking Trump would've bought the chicken coop out from under her.
The “old woman in the chicken coop” story is more myth than literal truth, but it does have a kernel of reality — it’s tied to Depression-era imagery that was used to dramatize the plight of older Americans and rally support for Social Security.

Where the Story Comes From
• During the early 1930s, reporters, reformers, and relief workers often told highly visual, heart-wrenching stories about destitute elderly people — living in barns, chicken coops, or sheds — to highlight the desperation of the Great Depression.
• These stories were not invented out of whole cloth — rural poverty in the 1930s was severe, and some elderly people did live in outbuildings or shacks after losing homes or being abandoned by families.
• FDR read letters from ordinary Americans (sometimes called “Dear Mr. President” letters) and was briefed on such cases by his staff.
But there’s no evidence that a single chicken-coop woman directly triggered Social Security legislation.
And this is what Orange boy is destroying everything that this money is used for and helping our community and ourselves for the betterment of mankind. .

I can't live without Social Security or my Medicare

he&his want you dead. So, rebel, folks!!
Have been.
You, me, and a lot of other people.
We will defend the rights of every American to retire and live with dignity!!! We will achieve the right to be free of dictators!!!!
We must remember it was Francis Perkins who was behind FDRs ss act.
