Hi there! I wanted to get this to you ASAP, so please excuse my brevity.
With over 23,000 dead and many confirmed to be women and children, the war in GAZA has many concerned about human rights abuses. This week, as reported in the Washington Post, “Israel appeared before the International Court of Justice in The Hague on Thursday to face accusations it is committing genocide in Gaza.”1
Every day, the United States funds and arms Israel without an investigation into human rights abuses, is another day our nation is complicit. We can not look away. US Senator Sanders has introduced a resolution2 under the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act, which compels the State Department to investigate human rights abuses. A full investigation must happen to determine if the accusations are true. Let’s also acknowledge that an investigation does not imply Israel’s guilt. Israel has absolutely the right to defend their borders and seek out the Hamas terrorists who kidnapped their citizens. Israel has no right to commit human rights abuses or war crimes. The US must take action in response to the case happening at the Hague.
Please take 1 (one) minute and send a message to your Senator to support these efforts and do an investigation under the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act.
We can not look away, we can not ignore the case at the Hague. We must support any and all investigations and demand better from all of our leaders.
