Friends, we are witnessing a full-scale attack on our rights, freedoms, democracy, and the rule of law—right now, in real time. But here’s the thing: we have the power to stop it. The only question is whether we’ll use it.
Throughout the coming week, I’ll break down how we fight back—together. Yesterday in Part 1, we reviewed the dangers of Project 2025, America’s current state of affairs, and how Grassroots activism is a powerful force that can shape the direction of a nation.
Today, I want to focus on Democrats, progressives, and the urgent reminder that it will take all of us who call America home to speak out, show up, and build power to advance freedom over fascism.
Here is the current state of affairs with Democrats and Progressives:
Americans think the Republican Party is more in sync with the mood of the country (NYT/Ipsos Poll) 1
Overall, voters view the Democratic Party more negatively than the Republican Party (Quinnipiac Poll) 2
All Senate Republicans and 15 Democrats voted for the Treasury Secretary who has given Elon Musk access to sensitive data. 3
Many people support progress on key issues, yet Republicans and some members of the DNC and some Democrats in Congress are failing to address the needs of the majority of Americans.
Democrats are rebuilding and have elected new leaders in Ken Martin for Chair and Malcolm Kenyatta, Artie Blanco, Reyna Walters-Morgan, David Hogg for Vice-Chair. It will take years to rebuild the party. 4
Progressives currently hold about one-fifth of all congressional seats, and when it comes to organizing at the state and local levels, the landscape ranges from a chaotic "hot mess" to truly stellar efforts. 5
The good news is that many people in this country support policies that drive progress, as highlighted in a New York Times poll. 6 However, Christian Conservatives and MAGA extremists currently hold power and are determined to rule not by consensus, but through oligarchy and an autocratic theocracy.
For the People
America is a work in progress and a promise of a better tomorrow for all of us.
We showed up on the beaches of Normandy to fight off Nazis, we sent people to the moon, and we developed a vaccine against and helped the world to overcome a worldwide pandemic.
We cherish our families, friends, faith, and communities; we pour love and hard work into everything we do.
That flag and America is our shared promise — a commitment to keep moving forward, to face challenges head-on, and to uphold the values of unity, courage, and compassion.
We are better than our worst days and can and will right the wrongs of our past.
We will not cower to bullies or fools, and we will do the work to fiercely advocate for our rights, freedoms, and democracy and push for freedom over fascism.
The strength of our nation lies in us coming together, contributing our unique perspectives, talents, and experiences to build something greater than ourselves.
Will you join me in fighting the good fight and committing to fighting the powers that be? Who are the powers that be? Right now our focus is on convicted felon President Trump and his administration, Republicans in Congress, and naughty democrats.
And now after making the case why we must take action, here is how we are going to do it.
It’s up to each of us to take a stand. We need to show up, speak out, and build the power necessary to remove corrupt politicians and replace them with leaders who truly serve the people. In the coming week, I’ll share more on how we can make this happen, but the bottom line is clear: action is not optional—it’s essential.
We the people are the bosses of 34-time convicted felon President Donald Trump, the Cabinet, and every member of Congress. It’s time we started acting like it.
Now is the time to strengthen our organizing efforts, mobilizing in every city and state to build a movement that puts power back where it belongs—with the people. We can’t afford to wait. The fight for our future starts now.

Progress and Power to the People isn't just a concept; it's a movement. By taking action, holding leaders accountable, and advocating for dignity, respect, and opportunity for all, we can build an America that lives up to the values of liberty and justice for all-not just the wealthy, powerful, or privileged. Together, we will keep fighting for a future where everyone—not just the privileged few—can thrive. Stay strong. Stay engaged. We’ve got work to do!

FYI ... The following comment was posted to a Robert Reich Substack video. My apologies as I did not get the author to attribute credit, I do not know their identity. I believe this comment to be both credible and insightful, that is why I pass it on. Gulp.
"I thought people might like to know what Elon Musk and Trump have planned for the country, and it's shocking that no one is talking about their real agenda here. All we see are threats to completely end so many government programs and agencies and spending, seemingly as simple hatred of government and retribution to those who opposed Trump or didn't vote for him, along with massive cruelty to all sorts of people, from immigrants to people who rely on government benefits. Terrible as that is, it's not what's really going on.
Musk's plan, that he's convinced Trump to commit to, is to transform the entire way our government works, by running it as a giant series of Al programs.
No, that's not science fiction, and it's not me going paranoid crazy. It's what Musk is planning to do. And fast.
Musk has been building giant Al programs and massive Al computing centers for years now. He just finished building Colossus in Tennessee, the world's largest Al computing center. Colossus was just launched in September 2024. It's a part of Musk's XAl company, which he intends to use to completely revamp how the federal government works. All these reductions in the federal workforce and bureaucracy are a prelude to putting the entire government in the hands of his Al company, and other subcontractors.
This is technofascism on a massive scale. Musk intends to make trillions from this, and probably give Trump a piece of the pie. Would that be illegal? Sure, but Trump can't be prosecuted for this, thanks to the Supreme Court's rulings. He has immunity even to charges of bribery.
I think this explains Musk's huge role in Trump's government, and his focus on DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), which by executive order has been given immense power across the government at every level.
Trump could never do any of this on his own, much less even think of it. But Musk has dreamed of this for decades, and he has convinced Trump to back it to the hilt.
In the next few months, were going to see it happen. It won't be noticed at first, because it's quite complex and our journalists and media are cowered by fear and narrowness of vision. But it's already happening. And this explains the outer confusion as to what Trump is planning, what his end game is. Turns out it's not Trump's end game, it's Musk's. And Musk is way ahead of everyone on this.
Call me crazy if you like, but this is what's really happening behind the scenes. Trump will say all kinds of crazy shit to distract from it, do crazy things as well, but this is the real program. Don't get caught up in all the cruelty and threats and BS being thrown about. That's bad enough, but it's not the real point.
Turning the government of the United States into a technofascist Al kleptocracy that enriches the investor class even more is the point. And this is why all the techno-oligarchs like Bezos and Zuckerberg and Ellison are all now gung-ho Trumpers. They will get even richer themselves through the Al government programs Musk will oversee.
Trump himself is just a distraction from the real powers remaking our country. A simple pawn enriching himself in the process of turning democracy into a computer algorithm controlled by the techno-oligarchs.

I'm an American Independent voter. but i believe that it's high time we get rid of old people like Pelosi. And like minded people like her. Who want to keep it the old white boys Democratic party. We need a totally overhauled Democratic party. or if you want to call it the New Green Party. ALL new fresh young bloods. and i'm 66. To have fresh NEW IDEAS to build on and move ahead. Other words we are not going to save AMERICAN DEMOCRACY. And if that happens, than we have NOBODY else to BLAME. BUT OURSELVES. WHO AGREES WITH ME?
