Thank you for the many meaningful comments and observations.

Lately, I have felt the need to completely forgo the Internet. I take several days away, and like a bad soap opera, the same storyline continues. No matter what, the Republican nominees are able to steal the headlines, spewing all manner of dangerous poisons; what they are actually doing while we (the majority of people in the US) get disgusted by the media circus is some truly dastardly stuff. Many of the comments I have read here sound like the the writers are suffering from the same reaction to the yuck that is called news. I have found that less Days of Our Lives means more time for living and taking meaningful actions.

Well stated, thank you for putting this in perspective. It's interesting to note that two of the worst people harming our democracy are rich immigrants! (Murdoch and Musk)

Yes, Fox News is a propaganda station promoting lies and conspiracy theories. During that interview with VP Harris I think she missed a great opportunity. When ask why 1/2 of the country still supports Trump, she basically said elections are difficult. She should have answered with: "Because stations like Fox News constantly promotes the Trump lies and conspiracy theories as facts to 1/2 of the country, with little or no fact checking.".

THE U.S. HAS BECOME AN OLEGARCY. HOW CAN AMERICAN POLS CLAIM WE LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY WHILE PRACTICING THE "RULE BY THE RICH" SYSTEM TO WIN ELECTIONS HERE?

END CITIZENS UNITED

END THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

MAKE ALL FEDERAL ELECTIONS GOVERNMENT FINANCED, NO OUTSIDE MONEY SHOULD EVER BE CONTRIBUTED TO ANY CANDIDATE, NO USE OF FACILITIES, NO FREE TV, INTERNET OR RADIO TIME..

"CONTRIBUTIONS" ARE NOTHING MORE THAN BRIBES AS SHOWN BY *RUMPS AND OTHERS' TAX CUTS FOR *RUMP AND HIS "CONTRIBUTORS".

IT'S THE ONLY WAY WE WILL EVER HAVE A REAL DEMOCRACY!

WE THE PEOPLE WILL NEVER COMPETE WITH THE MEGA RICH AND CORPORATIONS, THEREFORE THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BUY ELECTIONS.

FOX, and other outlets that spew the same nonsense should not be called news, nor should they enjoy Freedom of the Press, because they are not press. They should be required to utilize verifiable facts and anything else should be clearly defined and labeled as opinion, nothing less. Their despicable misrepresentation have been damaging our democracy for years because some people, perhaps many, are too ignorant about the ways one can get to the truth of FOX's many lies.

Fox network and news are mutually exclusive. I propose that a mandatory warning message be displayed before and after each broadcast, stating that the opinions expressed on the broadcast are not based on facts. Additionally, that the source is a right-leaning conservative propaganda and political rhetoric entertainment machine.

FOX should not be allowed to use the word: news....nor should notnewsmax. Propaganda networks all the way owned by the rich to keep misinformation flowing. You know....LIES. Lies in "news" should not be allowed, should be a criminal offence.

The Fox network is NOT a news outlet! They are considered entertainment, but in reality they’re not even good at that. They are an utter waste of time, as far as I’m concerned!

I first saw a FOX "News" broadcast in 1996, when it was new. I was in the dining area/bar of an airport hotel and having dinner. Only a few others were dining or at the bar, and a large screen TV was on, with FOX nightly news. Already, I had learned it was a propaganda vehicle for the Republican party, and I was annoyed it was on at the hotel, so I asked the waitress if she could switch to another channel, and she switched to CNN. I've more recently stayed in the hospital and found that while FOX was available on the cable feed, MSNBC was not, likely due to the channel bundle they bought. I'll give both the benefit of the doubt--though not sure if I should--and believe this was not so deliberate as it was out of political ignorance. But it's also how FOX gets legitimized, and seen so much more often as to have become a kind of indoctrination. At the beginning of covid, I created and posted an image about this on Twitter, and hoped it would go viral. It didn't do so--I'm not good at social media. Still, I try. I've posted other such message images, thinking a picture is worth a thousand words. We need to put an end to FOX's fake news. A few years ago PEW Research Center said 65% of Republicans get their news first, and perhaps only, from FOX. They have done so much damage. And now we have our current mess not just because of FOX, but because the news media most American depend upon have failed to do their job of informing citizens of facts.

We need to bring more of this into the "legacy" media, the folks who are so woefully under-reporting the erosion of our society and our country. So many people now live in media silos, and it was a great move for Harris to venture into the Fox silo in spite of the heavily biased treatment she received. At least a light of truth was sent into the darkness of deceit, however briefly it may have been.

Great article. Thanks for calling out Fox. I once read the younger Murdoch claim they were the "loyal opposition." That's untrue. They are undermining our nation with their deliberate untruths (absolute lies, flatly). It makes it propaganda.

Well, I agree with your question, and my answer is that a large number of us call it "Fox Noise" and don't really give it any attention...

Yes, all of the above. And mainstream Networks ABC CBS NBC and even PBS have corporate funding that limits content/info. "Breaking News!!!" Headlines/Drama So, those of us who belong to the Choir have outlets, like this and many others. We are an uninformed populace by design.

The Frustration...and anxiety is palpable. I have spoken w. some Republicans & Trump supporters to offer some info./support/balance on some critical issues. Some were willing to consider some of it, some were not. I always ended with respect and hope we can reach compromises that serve US ALL.
