I needed this commentary before the election. I got overly emotional and over-engaged thinking I could influence people in my very red, very religious state. The day after the election, I posted a meme basically stating that anyone who voted for Trump was racist, misogynist, and homophobes. Within hours, I received a call from my boss because so many people were reaching out to him because 1) they were concerned about me...and 2) what I had posted. Relatives were calling my mom expressing concern about my mental health since I was so desperately wanting Harris to win. Over the weeks, I learned my dearest cousin was very angry and hurt by my post. My mom has played mediator and, once I reach out, my cousin will forgive me. People at work have distanced themselves from me. A group of friends I've had for 20+ years has backed away. Does anyone have suggestions for moving forward? Recovering from these damaged relationships while being true to myself and my beliefs. Everyone just keeps telling me to not talk or share my political beliefs. I do have a tendency to go all in on a hobby, mission, extracurricular activities, etc. so maybe I got it out of my system and won't feel the need to be politically active again.

I disagree with not talking about issues. Maga wants us to to give up and be silent. Don't! Keep spreading the ❀️ love and hope, not fear and hatred.
